As you can see, a few of us have been searching but not able to find any further details of what happened to Edith after her marriage to Herbert.

My Grandfather second wife was Lily Jane Berry. This is the right person. I need the death certificate of his first wife ,Edith. When he married to Lily in1916 he said on the marriage certificate that he was a widower. Could he have been telling a PORKY. Only her death certificate will dis prove it.

I've come to the conclusion that Mabel in the 1891 census is in fact Edith.
There is one birth registered for Mabel Eliza Stedman but she is the daughter of Frank and Catherine in Redhill. This family seem to have a habit of naming their children and then putting them down using a middle or some other name. It is of no consequence but she may be calling herself Mabel in 1911.

I think that is definitely the wrong Bertie.
Herbert's father, William in Brighton was a Journeyman Butcher.

According to a tree on Ancestry, the Herbert Alfred Pullen who was born 1882 in Cuckfield, Sussex was the son of William Pullen and Martha Adelia Bailey.

Apparently he was known as Bertie (and is named thus on the 1891 census).

She had been married before Prickles in 1898 to George Berry. Her maiden name was Store.
