I did wonder about that, the baptism being so late, I hoped it wasn't the case but you're probably right. It is sad indeed :-(

I wonder if this is 'little Henry's' death.
He could have been baptised as he was dying?
Deaths Jun 1895 Wood Henry 6 W. Derby 8b 368
SO very sad!!! :-(

Forgot to say, I found this late last night on Lancashire opc:
Baptism: 14 Nov 1830 Holy Trinity, Wavertree, Lancashire, England Henry Woods - son of Henry Woods & Ann Abode: Wavertree Occupation: Gardener Baptised by: Thos. Hornby Off. Min. Register: Baptisms 1813 - 1842, Page 51, Entry 408 Source: LDS Film 2147886
I'm not sure of it's the same family or not. The area of Wavertree worries me a bit.
I thought Henry may be the son of William Woods (Tailor) and Mary Smith and was born 25 Jun 1807 & Bap 18 Jul 1807 St Nicholas, Liverpool, Living at in Gerard Street.
I think he may have siblings born in Weale/Whale Street.
Ann b. 15 Dec 1808. Bap 18 Jan 1809 St Nicholas d. Jun 1811 Weale/Whale Street Sarah b. 30 Jan 1811 bap 20 Feb 1811 - Weale/Whale Street John bap 26 Nov 1813 St Peters, Liverpool - Weale/Whale St

The trouble is I've found the 1832 Poll book contains a Henry Wood from Gerard Street as a Victualler - I'm hoping it's a relation or someone else. The family should have moved away from Gerard Street with Henry by 1809 anyway so maybe I'm needlessly worrying.
If this Henry does belong to Henry Wood and Ann LLoyd, then he should have died before Henry (Harry) born 1838.
This is part of different query though but I've just recorded it whilst I think on and I do have more details about William and Mary

Thank you so much Dea xxx I did say it was a challenge!
I just seem to find it odd that some of the children just disappear on the census records.

Just to let you know that I have been 'on the case' since 8 o'clock this morning but haven't found anything useful for you yet I am afraid :-(
I will keep at it and post if I find anything new !

That's lovely Dea! It niggles me when I can't read what it says. Thank you x

Haven't got much further yet but John's occupation in 1861 is 'Labourer' so not much help there then :-( ;-)

I do struggle with this branch of my tree, there's so many loose ends and I probably don't know where to start. Would like to finally get a bit further so would appreciate any help.
The surname is Wood but the further back I go, it seems to be Woods.
Rather than posting everything I know to begin with, I'll try and focus in on one area where I'd love to find any help, however, I'll try and input a lot of detail to give you some idea.
Henry Wood(s) was born about 1805/6/7 in Liverpool. (I'm not going to post anything about his early start in life just yet as that's a different challenge)
Henry Wood(s) married Ann Lloyd born about 1804 at Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, on 14 Mar 1830. He was listed as a labourer.
They had the following children: I've included the address and Henry's occupation at the time of their baptism.
John Woods born about 1832 Baptised 11 Sep 1832 St Peter Liverpool Living at Oldham Court, Oldham Street Liverpool(Henry was police officer). Not sure where John is is in 1851 and lose track after 1861
Edward Woods born about 1834 baptised 21 Apr 1834 St Peter Liverpool. Living at Oldham Court, Liverpool (Henry is police man). Think Edward died before 1841.
William Woods born about 1836. baptised on 11 Apr 1836 at St Peter Liverpool. Living at Oldham Court, Oldham Street Liverpool (Henry was police officer). Lose track after 1851.
Henry Woods (Sometimes known as Harry) born about 1838. Not sure when baptised. Not sure where young henry is in 1861 but think he married Sarah Alice Parkinson at St Phillips church in 1862. He was living at 7 Back Bittern Street, Liverpool, England which ties in with the 1861 Census below. Father Henry is listed as Gardener in 1862, Young Henry is listed as a Sail Maker. Lose track of him in 1871 but in 1881 he is living at 36 Vane Street, West Derby. Lose track of young Henry after that.
Mary Woods born 1840 Baptised 28 Sep 1840 at St Peter. Living at Oldham Court, Oldham Street Liverpool (Henry is market constable). Think she married Thomas Thompson on 02 May 1865 at St Peter Liverpool, (haven't seen marriage yet) Lose track of her in 1871 but think I've found her with her younger brother Edward in 1881 at 42 Sterne Street, West Derby, Lancashire, She was widowed and listed as a charwoman. Lose track of her after 1881.
Joseph Wood(s) born 24 August 1842 at Oldham Court, Oldham Street, Liverpool. haven't found baptism. (I must have his birth certificate but haven't got it to hand). He married Ellen Brereton on 21 Nov 1865 at St George, Liverpool. Father Henry is listed as Dock gateman. No mention of him being deceased. He is listed as a mariner (from Everton) which is why I think I can't find him in 1861, 1881 1901 and 1911. In 1871 he is living at 14 Alma Street, Everton. In 1882 he is at 13 Severs Street, Liverpool. in 1891 he is living at 28 Belgrave Street, Liverpool. In 1900 he is living at 21 Walker Street, West Derby, Liverpool.
I have found his wife Ellen in 1881 1901 and 1911. I'm not sure when he or his wife Ellen died.
James Woods born about 1845 Leigh Street, Liverpool (labourer). He was baptised 06 Jun 1845 at St Peter Liverpool. Father Henry is listed as a labourer. No trace of him on 1851 so he may have died beforehand or he may not belong to this family.
Edward Woods born about 1846. Haven't found baptism yet. He was a porter in 1861. I think he married Barbara Dodd on 06 Nov 1879 at Liverpool St Jude He was listed as a mariner from 25 Cecil Street, Liverpool. His father Henry was listed as a gardener. He was living with his sister at 42 Sterne Street, West Derby, He was listed as Fireman On Ship (Seaman). His wife remarried on 24 Jan 1892 to William Lee so he must have died between 1881-1892. Not sure where she was in 1891. Edward may have died in 1889 according to the BMD index??
Throughout this time the names change from Woods to Wood so it does get confusing.
Here is Henry Wood and Ann Lloyd in the census records.
1841 Census - Oldham Court, Oldham Street Liverpool
Name: Henry Woods (labourer) Age: 35 Estimated birth year: abt 1806 Gender: Male Where born: Lancashire, England Civil Parish: Liverpool Hundred: Liverpool County/Island: Lancashire Country: England
Registration district: Liverpool Sub-registration district: Mount Pleasant Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 560 Book: 8 Folio: 5 Page Number: 2 Household Members: Name Age Henry Woods 35 Ann Woods 35 John Woods 8 William Woods 5 Harry Woods 3 Mary Woods 9 Mo
1851 Census - 20 Prudhoe Street, Liverpool, Lancashire, England Name: Henry Woods (labourer) Age: 46 Estimated birth year: abt 1805 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Ann Woods Gender: Male Where born: Liverpool, Lancashire, England Civil Parish: Liverpool Town: Liverpool County/Island: Lancashire Country: England
Registration district: Liverpool Sub-registration district: Islington ED, institution, or vessel: 1i Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 50 Piece: 2184 Folio: 285 Page Number: 16 Household Members: Name Age Henry Woods 46 Ann Woods 47 William Woods 16 Henry Woods 14 Joseph Woods 8 Edward Woods 5 Mary Woods 10
I think Henry may have died before the 1861 Census. I think this may be the family in 1861 but would like a second opinion.
1861 Census 7 Back Bittern Street, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool,
Name: Ann Wood Age: 57 Estimated birth year: 1804 Relation: Head Gender: Female Where born: Budle, Denbighshire, Wales Civil Parish: Liverpool Ecclesiastical parish: Columba Town: Liverpool County/Island: Lancashire Country: England
Registration district: Liverpool Sub-registration district: Mount Pleasant ED, institution, or vessel: 11f Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 339 Piece: 2682 Folio: 24 Page Number: 52 Household Members: Name Age Ann Wood 57 John Wood 29 Mary Wood 20 Edward Wood 17
I know she is listed as being from Liverpool previously and now she is listed as being from Wales but apparently this fits in with something a distant relation said as there being a Welsh connection on that side of the tree. I'm not sure if it is Budle? though, If I could establish the area, it may help with her birth.
Also, I can't make out what John's occupation may be in 1861. (edited: Dea has deciphered it as being a labourer) I don't know where he is on the 1851 census or 1871 (if he's still alive) 's I thought that may help.
I lose track of Ann after 1861 if that is her and some of the marriages for the children are based on this 1861 family.
As you can see for just this part of the tree, there are quite a few lose ends and I'm not sure whether anyone can help or has the energy to help :-).
I'd really like to find out what happened to Henry and Ann. We thought Henry may have died in May 1854 at Athort street but the death certificate said he was a cooper and we didn't recognise the informant.
Sorry if this is a bit overwhelming!
