For marrs, FreeBMD's transcription is essentially complete for every quarter pre-1962q3, except for: Marriages Sep 1952 (76%) ******************* Marriages Dec 1952 (0%) ******************* There are no completed quarters post-1968q1.
FreeBMD updates abt every 4 wks, and each update usually gets another completed quarter or two.
For the local indexes Roy referred to, see: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/local_bmd

Always post replies on the thread unless you are giving info that may compromise a living persons privicy

Thank you everyone for your response. I haven't figured out how to reply individually. But I have taken all your advice on board and comments. Summing it all up it seems that GR are a waste of time and money. As Margee said "shame, shame GR". Why are we paying them when we have to do our research on another site?
And what is the point of a Keepsafe? It certainly is far from safe. GR can change or entirely loose the Documents we had searched for and thought saved!!!!
Also recently on my Time Lines I keep seeing the messages, search for birth record etc., These records are in the Keepsafe relating to that person, so what are they talking about? I am so glad others are having problems, I thought it was just me, loosing the plot!!!

Yes it maybe helpful for people who look in......many do not and could be members for many years before finding the boards.
When I joined in 2010....did I know about freebmd? No... I found out a few months later, even then I was confused as we didn't have the links we have now and I didn't know how to copy and paste.
I have given a link to another thread where this subject has come up before....GR have been asked where the possible spouse have gone......they came back with some rubbish about a project
They have ripped me off for 10 credits just testing this (not that I care need to get rid) but how many others have paid and not got anything?

Just to add to my last post, The OP stated
"Since GR are no longer putting possible spouse matches on the Marriage Records before 1914, could someone please tell me how to find who they married? Even the census records don´t help. Or am I being stupid? "
I took that to mean Help was being asked for,
Help to on how to match spouses so my post was relevant to what the OP was asking

Why are you using GR to look for such old BMD info?
Do what we do.......use freebmd

Jax, The fact newbies don't no that is exactly why i have added my post to this thread,
Newbies who read this thread will then learn from our input on this thread so i disagree that it does'nt help newbies
PricklyHolly, Posted the link to freebmd's which also helps anyone who reads this thread
With regard to what this thread is about?
"This thread is about GR giving members what they are paying for or they will go else where.....The other people on the page used to show.....so why is it not showing now?"
Without appearing to be pedantic
If its a suggestion about what GR should or should not do then its a "suggestion" which should be posted on the relevant board

Of course you know that and I know that PP
But that does not help a newbie to this hobby who has paid GR by sub or even worse credits and are not getting a result....not everyone uses these boards to find out these useful bits of info
Just to add the marriage I posted is also on the London marriages and banns on Ancestry.....so I wouldn't have needed to work it out....
This thread is about GR giving members what they are paying for or they will go else where.....The other people on the page used to show.....so why is it not showing now?

Where possible its always best to use local online BMD's rather than the GRO index regardles of which Genealogy web site you use as some give spouse and mothers maiden names before sept 1911
Example The 1850 marriage posted by Inky1 for Jane Boardman she married John Winstanley At All Saints Wigan
BOARDMAN Jane WINSTANLEY John All Saints, Wigan Wigan & Leigh C33/9/150
http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/index.php
Where possible i use freebmds first then if a local online BMD's is available i then cross reference them with the local site

Out of curiosity I searched for the marriage of Jane Boardman 1850 Wigan. 1850 Q1 Wigan Vol 21 Page 637
GR returned just her - as expected (per Jax's postings above)
Ancestry returned her plus 6 others:- Elizabeth Banks Mary Ann Battersby Jane Boardman Thomas Hill John Holt Mary Lyson John Winstanley
Freebmd returned her plus 7 others:- Atherton James Banks Elizabeth Battersby Mary Ann Boardman Jane Hill Thomas Holt John Lyson Mary Winstanley John
Don't have access to FMP, but only Freebmd shows the full set?

Nor do I use them.....I did 4 years ago when I first joined
Of course I know how to find marriages....but it is not very helpful to anyone new to genealogy who is paying to use this site whether subscription or credits......and it is not giving the information that every other site does.
There maybe people who never use these boards so they do not get to know about the free sites (unless they google)
It does make me wonder if the GR staff use the records? or is there another way to get the list of possible spouses up which they are keeping to themselves?

Jax - can't say. I don't use GR for any records.......I tend to find possible marriages on freebmd and then play about with censuses.

No of course they cannot but if you search as I did for Louisa Taylor who married in Islington in the late 1800s....that is all you get......No other names for the spouses to choose from

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think GR or anyone else is able to say who married whom before 1912. It simply wasn't recorded. Or am I mistaken?
I do however think it's disgraceful for GR to be charging for what is free on FreeBMD. But then people are paying for it!

This has been mentioned before
I think it is an absolute disgrace that GR have the nerve to charge people (using credits) for nothing
I wasted 10 credits testing this out when someone else complained
When GR were asked about this they said they had other projects on the go at the moment.....or something like that
Projects !!!!...... If they are offering marriage registrations...they should at least give some idea who the person married.....if not don't charge for it

You look at the census before and after marriage to determine who married whom. Not so easily done if it happens that the two females have the same first name but then you can match up the year and place of birth from the census before marriage.
