Since GR are no longer putting possible spouse matches on the Marriage Records before 1914, could someone please tell me how to find who they married? |

You look at the census before and after marriage to determine who married whom. Not so easily done if it happens that the two females have the same first name but then you can match up the year and place of birth from the census before marriage. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think GR or anyone else is able to say who married whom before 1912. It simply wasn't recorded. Or am I mistaken? |

No of course they cannot but if you search as I did for Louisa Taylor who married in Islington in the late 1800s....that is all you get......No other names for the spouses to choose from |

Oh, I see what you mean, jax. I misunderstood! You mean that GR doesn't show the other names on the page? And they charge for it? Shame, shame, GR!!! |

Jax - can't say. I don't use GR for any records.......I tend to find possible marriages on freebmd and then play about with censuses. |

Where possible its always best to use local online BMD's rather than the GRO index regardles of which Genealogy web site you use as some give spouse and mothers maiden names before sept 1911 |
