To Ann Cardiff,
You were correct in suggesting Susan Spatchurst married John Walker. The marriage was Apr - Jun 1857.
Susan's son Walter Watson Spatchurst (born Jan 1851) named the father as Charles James Watson Occupation Butcher.
Fortunately Susan kept her Spatchurst maiden name for her son otherwise this Spatchurst line would have disappeared at this point as all her subsequent children were Walkers and her siblings were all female.

If any one can help wth details of family Spatchurst going back beyond William's father (who married Lucy), it would be much appreciated. Thanks again for your support .

You have confirmed most of the spatchurst relatives down from william (born 1798). You have also filled in some missing items and confirmed that William's mother and father were another William Spatchet (Spatchurst) and Lucy Baker who were married 5th January 1796.
I am still trying to digest all of you inputs and will return to the ancesters of WIlliam born 1798 Tomorrow. Can we go back further?

There was also a James in 1802 so I think Gins was probably right and the name did change a bit over the years.

There was also a Stephen Spatchurst born in 1805 Titsey. Stephens wife came from Westerham in Kent, not far from Bromley. IF he was Williams brother it may help tracking his parents.
