As stated previously, the copy of Mordecai's death cert may hold helpful info

It will certainly give you his address, his age, and the informant's details

However, unless you have a copy of Joseph's marriage cert, you can't be sure that his father was Mordecai

Ancestry trees are notoriously unreliable, although as there appear to be several with the same info, it may, in this instance, be accurate

FH can't be done accurately without spending on certs.............

Have you looked at the Jewish sites whose URL's were posted for you?

To all those who are helping me find my Nathan roots. You have helped me so far back to Joseph Nathan. back in 1818 and have suggested his Father was Mordecai Nathan, I do need to make certain this is correct but have no idea how to go about this task or to find out who Joseph mother was. In my ignorant way I have tried most of the free sites but they lead to a site that requires becoming a paying member when the free period ends and by that time I am no further forward in my searches. Does anyone have advise that will help please bearing in mind every penny counts to me so am unable to pay the fees most charge for researching their sites. Thank you all for our time and assistance to date.

There is a marriage cert for Joseph in several trees on Mundia.com.
It is a free site, part of Ancestry.co.uk.Just sign in.
http://www.mundia.com/gb/Search/Results?givenName=joseph&birthPlace=spittlesfield&deathPlace=&surname=nathan&birthDay=&birthMonth=&birthYear=1818&deathDay=&deathMonth=&deathYear=&gender=Unknown&motherGivenName=&spouseGivenName=&fatherGivenName=&showMembersOnly=false

If the link does not work just enter Joseph Nathan 1818 Spittlefields.
22 trees that I can see.
