regarding SA archives, the records quoted above say DEPOT SAB and DEPOT TAB

This is the info for contacting those archives

click on

Contact information and acronyms of all national, provincial and other archives repositories

SAB:
National Archives Repository (Public Records of Central Government since 1910)
Postal address: Private Bag X236, PRETORIA 0001
Street address: 24 Hamilton Street, Arcadia, PRETORIA.
Tel: (012) 441 3200. Fax: (012) 323 5287.
Email: [email protected]

TAB:
National Archives Repository (Records of the former Transvaal Province and its predecessors as well as of magistrates and local authorities)
Postal address: Private Bag X236, PRETORIA 0001.
Street address: 24 Hamilton Street, Arcadia, PRETORIA.
Tel: (012) 441 3200. Fax: (012) 323 5287
Email: [email protected]

You can email to ask how to obtain a copy of the record.

in the past I had limited experience with requesting SA records and found one archive extremely helpful and one less so :-)

(One asked why I had not provided my postal address so it could mail me photocopies, free of charge, which it then did, and the other suggested that I hire a researcher to obtain copies for me.)

also to search the archives yourself start here

Was there more than one generation of Percy George Armstrongs??

These seem to be
- one who died in 1947, married to first to Mabel Lucy Games and then to (her sister?) Agnes Belina Lena Games
- one who died in 1970 survived by wife Joanna Philip Armstrong

was the older one the father of the brothers you listed maybe?

Part of a pm from Elizabeth:

"We looked at the archives, but do you know where we can actually see the details and print it. My friend would really like to find his fathers parents"

Elizabeth, the NASA site is not very user-friendly and South African research is a lot more difficult than most other countries - records aren't easily available.

From the NASA site there are a number of contacts, I'd suggest trying this one and asking for further information:

Hello Elizabeth, could you clarify whether you're looking for information about him going back over or forwards (or both)? How have you connected to him?

You say "he had two brothers Charlie Derek also Douglas Haig" - I guess Charlie and Derek were the brothers, but where does Douglas Haig fit in?
