It may help to add South Africa to your thread title so anyone with access to those records will pick up your enquiry :-)

Hello Elizabeth, could you clarify whether you're looking for information about him going back over or forwards (or both)? How have you connected to him?
You say "he had two brothers Charlie Derek also Douglas Haig" - I guess Charlie and Derek were the brothers, but where does Douglas Haig fit in?

Part of a pm from Elizabeth:
"We looked at the archives, but do you know where we can actually see the details and print it. My friend would really like to find his fathers parents" ..........................................................................................................................
Elizabeth, the NASA site is not very user-friendly and South African research is a lot more difficult than most other countries - records aren't easily available.
From the NASA site there are a number of contacts, I'd suggest trying this one and asking for further information:
National Archives and Records Service of South Africa, Head Office
The National Archivist Postal address: Private Bag X236, PRETORIA 0001 Street address: 24 Hamilton Street, Arcadia, PRETORIA Tel: (012) 441 3200 Fax: (012) 323 5287 Fax to e-mail: 086 529 6416 E-mail: [email protected]

You can email to ask how to obtain a copy of the record.
in the past I had limited experience with requesting SA records and found one archive extremely helpful and one less so :-)
(One asked why I had not provided my postal address so it could mail me photocopies, free of charge, which it then did, and the other suggested that I hire a researcher to obtain copies for me.)
also to search the archives yourself start here

Was there more than one generation of Percy George Armstrongs??
These seem to be - one who died in 1947, married to first to Mabel Lucy Games and then to (her sister?) Agnes Belina Lena Games - one who died in 1970 survived by wife Joanna Philip Armstrong
was the older one the father of the brothers you listed maybe?
DEPOT TAB SOURCE MHG TYPE LEER VOLUME_NO 0 SYSTEM 01 REFERENCE 1172/48 PART 1 DESCRIPTION ARMSTRONG, PERCY GEORGE. >> STARTING 19470000 ENDING 19470000 REMARKS SURVIVING SPOUSE AGNES BELINA LENA ARMSTRONG (BORN GAMES) PREDECEASED SPOUSE MABEL LUCY ARMSTRONG (BORN GAMES).

this may explain the older one:
DEPOT Genealogical Society of SA DESCRIPTION Armstrong, ABJ - Gravestone. STARTING 0000 >> ENDING 19030203 REMARKS St. Peter's Church Cemetery, Cradock, Eastern Cape. SUMMARY + Agnes Bedelia Josephine Armstrong, nee Games. Died 03-02-1903 in Cradock, Eastern Cape. Aged 27 years. Wife of Percy George Armstrong.
this could also be relevant to the Sr Percy
DEPOT TAB SOURCE SAC TYPE LEER VOLUME_NO 6 SYSTEM 01 REFERENCE A2019 PART 1 DESCRIPTION RECORD OF CONDUCT AND SERVICE IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN CONSTABULARY. >> PERCY ARMSTRONG. STARTING 1901 ENDING 1902
(although there was a Percy Albert Armstrong in the Imperial Yeomanry in the Anglo-Boer War who is perhaps a more likely candidate, as it was not uncommon for men to join the constabulary from the British military)
