Hi
Can anyone help me find a marriage for Ann Rice, I am researching this family and I knew that other trees state she died ic1828.
However, I believe she survived perhaps there are more one person!
Her parents are William Rice and Caroline Rice (nee Dudley)
in 1841 she is working as a servant in Reigate, Surrey.
in 1851 she is the wife of William Taylor who was born c1812/13 who was born in Cardsley Hertfordshire or London depending on the census, his occupation being a fancy soap maker.
In 1851 they are in St Giles in the Fields, London
In 1861 Saffron Hill
1871 Ely Rents, hatton garden and saffron hill
1881 St George, Bloomsbury
In 1891 & 1901 being a widow she is residing with her brother George Rice in Berkhamstead.
she had a least 3 children William c1850, Harry 1854 and Fanny 1860.
So, I am looking for marriage to William Taylor somewhere between 1841 and 1851, to prove she is Ann Rice but I can't find one. I did wonder about a previous marriage and found Ann Rice marrying a Marcus Forbes in London in 1842, but I can't find a marriage of William Taylor to Ann Forbes
Further evidence ithat she is a Rice is that her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Taylor as relative staying with her William Rice born c1866 Ewell, Surrey which would be Ann's nephew
Can anyone help?
Regards
Mark

have you obtained the birth certificate of one of the Taylor children ?

that would settle the issue of their mother's name and is probably the only way you will do it.

why am I not finding a fancy soap maker in 1851 ?

William was a good deal older than Ann. Very possibly he had been married before and his wife was not deceased, so they were not able to marry.

these are the only two records for the name Marcus Forbes before 1949

Marriages Jun 1842
FORBES Marcus Kensington 3 194
Deaths Sep 1846
Forbes Marcus Southampton 7 156

so that could have been your Ann marrying him and she could have been a widow, but still unable to marry if William was married.
