Catherine Report 27 Dec 2013 18:22

Hi:
Thank you all for replying to my post regarding Patrick Connor and spouse, Elizabeth Docherty.
I have info. from a family member regarding the marriage of Patrick jnr. when he married his wife, Annie Barbour, ms McIlevie on 21/2/1900 at St George Episcopal church in Maryhill, Glasgow. This info. gives Patrick jnr's father as being Patrick Connor and his mother as being Elizabeth Docherty, both deceased at the time. This info. has been copied from the original.
The son of Patrick jnr, was another Patrick Connor, dob 21/7/1904, and according to my husband, his son, was 'cousin' to several members of a Docherty family.
The occupations of Patrick and his wife, Elizabeth Docherty, were retrieved from the different census records.
I do apologise for not responding before now, we have been away over the Christmas Season.
Sincere thanks,
Cath Williamson-Connor

You need to get Patrick Junior's birth registration from Scotlandspeople. That will give the date and place of his parents marriage.

Where did you get his parents names and occupations please? It was unusual at that time for the mother's occupation to be given on a birth or marriage certificate.

The marriage should be on Scotlands People but you need to buy units to view actual records after a free search

Have you found the family in any of the censuses?

Thanks

Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me with info. on the above? It's my understanding they were both born in the Cavan/Meath area of Eire, and lived in the Govan area of Glasgow. They were both born c1850s and married in c1876 before the birth of their son, another Patrick in 1877. Whether or not there were other born of this union, I don't know however, nor do I know if Patrick or Elizabeth had any siblings. I would love to find more info. Patrick Snr's occupation was that of general labourer and Elizabeth's that of shirt cutter. My husband would be tickled pink if I were able to discover more of his ancestry.
Thanks,
Cath Williamson-Connor
