Hello Pauline, are you wanting to know more about mariners tickets in general? If so, I came across a query about them on this link, don't know if it's of interest: |

Rootschat in general is a very good place to look for specialised information like this, and I had thought of recommending it, but I wasn't sure what the protocol here was for recommending 'competitors' :-) |

JoonieCloonie, the protocol on these boards is that as long as another site being mentioned is not done so to put GR in a position of being unfavourably compared then there is no problem. There have been a number of threads (particularly on Genealogy Chat board) over the years and GR have stated that there is no problem (although there are some posters who still do not feel comfortable about naming other sites and will mention, e.g. Anc***** instead of naming Ancestry) |

Hello thank you I had a look at the other post. Interesting, I wondered if it was possible to tell how long he had been at sea and where he had sailed from or if he had been at all as this one had only been folded once length wise. It was issued on 27th September 1847 but cannot read the port name but it could be Inverness. |

There is no embargo on the mention on here of Ancestry, or any other site - at least not nowadays - as long as GR is not shown in a poor light by comparison. |

JoonieCloonie (and anyone else who may be interested) the post of 25 Apr 2013 12:37 by Genes Community Manager on the linked thread clarifies GR's position regarding the posting of information from other sites: |

Thank you for that, I had emailed a copy of the mariners ticket to a relation I had found on the internet. I had not realised that it had been put on the site, well found. |
