There is a photo of Moses on his Merchant Navy Seaman original record on Find My Past (he wasn't white) it says he was born in Freetown Sierra Leon on 25/06/1889. Rating, F'man.
It also says deceased 01/01/1924 presumed Smallpox. Ex Trewiddin. Nationality British. Father British
EDIT. I have sent you this record and photo to your in box

Now I know who Doll was! His sister Dorothy! I think she must have kept it in the family too, because her name was always Mawhood and she had a son Milton Mawhood.
I wonder who Leonard's father was? and who was Milton's father? Now my husband has some history as far out as mine. ;D [OH reading over my shoulder.....] He remambers his father talking about Aunty Rose as well! Now we're getting somewhere. OK, Milton's father was killed before he and Doll got married. It's all very confusing now ::)
From http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=280067.0 Perhaps you've already read through this board? Doesn't mention your Moses though except the marriage to Dorothy which means the last statement above cannot be true.

Don't know if photo is Moses, but Dad said it was of his father and pointed out the sailor. My mistake, Dad was born in shields, I only have a small birth certifiate with his name as Milton Mawhood, I assume this was to avoid embarassment when applying for jobs, His father is down as Milton David on his marriage certificate. On Dorothy and Moses wedding cert. . he is Mose Decker ,aged 23 in 1918,and his father is Comrades Williams[deceased] Farmer. In 1921 on Dorothy's birth cert, father is Decker Williams[seaman merchant seaman] Milton was my father, but didn't talk much about his family, obviously found it hard.

This may have been his arrival:

Any information on M.D.Williams, a merchant seaman, married Dorothy Mawhood in South Shields in 1918. Born c1895, died at sea.I have a photo of a ships company taken in Belfast, not dated, the company is all white and Moses was supposed to be my father's father but my father was born in 1916 in Grimsby, he also is on the birth certificate of a girl born in 1921.
