I have been unable to locate John Bissett Baker born 1834 Bristol on any census after 1851. He married 3 times 1852 (Charlotte Gilchrist); 1858 (Caroline Millward); Bristol; then 1872 Holborn London (wife unknown). It appears he died in 1877 in London, Could someone help find a Will or probate for this illusive man? :-S

If he left a Will which went to Probate, there will be a record of it on Ancestry..............
The 1872 marriage will be on freebmd

Have you found his wives - and any children - on census records?

So...........................Caroline was his executor, and is described as his widow......
Therefore, the 1872 marriage is someone else with the same name..........a son, perhaps? Or a nephew?
Or something decidedly illegal was going on..........................

Thankyou for the Will index, I don't have a current subscription to Ancestry. Too many wives to choose from on freebmd Reggie, and with no idea of family or census help I needed the Will search. Still no wiser to the third wife if his second is mentioned in the will as Caroline.

Only two possible 'wives' on freebmd................and logic dictates that the two Italians would have married each other

Thank you for the census....could not find those on Findmypast!! John Bissett Baker seemed to be the only living descendant of his parents Joseph Baker and Martha Bissett. His father also a schoolmaster, died just after the 1851 in Bristol. and was a possible brother to my direct ancestor William Baker for whom my lines have dried up o. Just trying to find more leads.

Have eventually found the 1861 on FMP but only after searching for Donna the daughter! Have had 1841 for a while since finding Joseph and some of his children buried at the same church as my ancestors and living in the same area. Thank you for all your help, I feel at last s if I might have opened a few doors. Just need some minimal certificates now and a search for Joseph at local record office! I don't think he left a will.

Hmm, Donna still alive in 1901. Still looking for the little grandchild Ruth Martha Bissett (in 1851) aged 2. She was probably the daughter of Martha Baker whose first husband in 1846 Richard Say Armstrong Bissett was a cousin. No idea what happened to him as Martha remarries William Edward French in 1853. No death as far as I can see.
