Find Ancestors

I am looking for a John Bromley he married a Mary Margaret Schofield in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA in 1890. Came back to England around 1891 give or take 5yrs. I have no other information on him other than he was at the death of Mary Margaret in 1898 in Rochdale Lancashire, I think his profession was a Stone Mason, Journeyman.

You say 'came back' to England.........implying that he was born here.......where?

Did he and Mary produce children?

Was there an address on Mary's death cert?

Right......Mary was 36 when she died..........so presumably John was of a similar vintage........

I know Reggie that is where I got stuck. I do not know if he was born in England or USA I have searched, My great grandmother Mary Margaret was married first of all to my great grandfather Thomas Schofield who had a daughter Irene b: 1886 and my grandfather b:1889 Thomas died in Philadelphia in 1890 where Mary Margaret then married John Bromley. Mary Margaret was born in Cumberland.

Yes my great grandmothers maiden name was Walker. The reason why I wanted to find John Bromley was to see if he did father a child, the one you found Maria Bromley in 1898 (the year Mary Margaret died) but she died aged 2 years. So I guess I will have to get her birth certificate to see if she was the child of John Bromley and Mary Margaret.

You haven't answered the question about the Schofield children..............it did have a purpose

The children from Thomas And Mary Margaret ...irene Schofield b: 1886 John Schofield b:1889 both born in Philadelphia USA came back to Rochdale Lancs England. After Mary Margaret died 1898 both children went living with relatives in Rochdale Lancs

This must be him in 1911. He is a Stone Mason and his (and Mary Margaret's?) daughter Lily was born in Philadelphia in 1894.

He has been married to Henrietta for 3 years, no children from this marriage. The Smith children must be Henrietta's from her previous marriage.

The 1901 & 1911 census for John doesn't appear to have been found on any of the other threads, but as Marie has already said, Dianne, it's much better to keep all the info on one thread so we can all see what has been found already. Makes it easier to help you. :-)

John's place of birth hasn't been written as Rochale on the image, just ditto under the Buckleys. So probably should be Saddleworth as he stated on the 1911 census, posted above.
