Oh, well found Chris! I've been looking on the 1851 for Matilda Napier (as she was a witness on the marriage certificate) but couldn't find her.

No she doesn't have the certificate. I'm not sure where she got the details from - she just gave me these names many years ago before she emigrated.

I will look into buying the certificate.

Thanks for your advice Reggie.

The maiden name of a married woman wouldn't be recorded on a census................... if your aunt has the birth cert, get her to tell you what it says......

If she hasn't, buy a copy..............then you will have the facts

Natalie Report 10 Nov 2013 22:51

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far.

I'm afraid I don't know his father's occupation or where the parents were born.
My aunt got the parents names - Thomas and Louisa Griffiths - from somewhere (maybe a census or birth certificate)
One relative thinks that Louisa's surname is Napier but I want to be able to find concrete evidence of this.

If the birth was registered, buy a copy of the cert for MMN...........

Otherwise look for possible marriage for the parents..........

Hi all

Is anyone able to help me find a maiden name please? I have my suspicions of what it may be, but I need to be 100% sure that I'm following the correct line.

Wallace Flather Griffiths was born in 1854 (Marylebone / Middlesex area)
His parents are Thomas and Louisa Griffiths

I need to find out Louisa's maiden name and birth details. If anyone can help me, I will be very grateful!
;-)
