Yes, exactly. Thanks. I agree, I never thought I would come across it but thanks to some trees I have viewed, we have matches that go way back and surely they ALL can't be wrong. There are probably 500 of trees online that I have matches to that relate to royalty. That is the whole point in the question, is it ask for any resources where I can clarify some information. Online is amazing for researching. As it goes further back, all I need to do is google a name and "blam", I got a lot of results. Especially, if it relates to Charlemagne, Charles Martel, Pepin, Clovis, etc etc etc.. |

That is true. The tree I originally found the information from does provide a source but it is hard to google it so I am stuck to finding that myself. I have noticed a lot of differences as I always compare information from trees and google search, so will have to sort all that out. I have contacted people via Geni.com so hopefully I can get something good from that. |

We managed to trace my family back to 1425, but the name was spelt slightly differently and this could happen when you go back that far. Incidently, I did not do the research myself and likewise wanted to make sure of the facts before I added to my tree - we have the full tree and to be honest, it did not give as much excitement as those more recent ancestors - too distant. Not royalty, but noble. |

Yes. But even in recent history, genealogy shows different name variations. That is totally natural. Especially if some were not literate. |
