In 1881 Charles and wife Matilda were living in Camberwell, London. Charles born abt 1848 Westminster and Matilda abt 1845 Westminster. Matilda appears to have died 1919 Paddington but in order to find Charles death I need to know where they were living. His name is too common.

The Mitilada S Butler aged 73 in 1919 in Paddington is actually single in the 1911 census, so I don't think she is 'yours'

Just to confirm that the death in 1919 is probably not your Matilda:-

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 about Matilda Sidna Butler
Name: Matilda Sidna Butler
Probate Date: 7 Jan 1920
Death Date: 30 Nov 1919

............and her birth:-

Births Sep 1846 (>99%)
Butler Matilda Sidna Marylebone 1 220

............so she did not marry.

I know you weren't looking for this, but, I've been having a look for Matilda and her first husband in 1871 but can't find anything with them together, so I was wondering if this may be her, with Charles Butler ????

I've checked original and name does look like Butler:-

1871 England Census about Chas Bertles
Name: Chas Bertles
Age: 24
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1847
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Matilda Bertles
Gender: Male
Where born: London, Middlesex, England
Address: 1 Lillington Street
Civil Parish: St John The Evangelist
Ecclesiastical parish: St James The Less
County/Island: London
Country: England
Registration District: St George Hanover Square
Sub-registration District: St John Westminster
ED, institution, or vessel: 25
Household Schedule Number: 366
Piece: 123
Folio: 115
Page Number: 48
Household Members:
Name Age
Chas Bertles 24
Matilda Bertles 27
Eadalk Bertles 5

On marriage to Matilda, Charles gives his occupation as Driver and here the occupation of Chas is Shopman. Could be, however, that he was a driver for a shop doing deliveries???
