That's a good point, Reggie, I hadn't thought of that. I think I have to get that marriage cert. |

As his birth wasn't registered under the name he used when he married, he may not have known who his father was |

It would be the best place to start Annie, like Reggie states, this way you have the documentation to back up your findings. |

Yes, I think we need to do that. At least we'd have his father's name then. |

The information came from certificates which have now, sadly, gone missing - presumably destroyed. The people who could supply information have also gone. Another case of we should have asked more questions while they were still here. |

'Assurances' without documentary proof are worthless.............. |

The image is a bit strange. It looks as though someone has written it and then gone over the writing. It actually says Harry Henry with Henry crossed out. That's her death, Shirley. I've looked up probate records to see if that can help at all but no luck. |

The second child was born in 1912. It was Alice who was born in Corby, not the son. He was born in Aldershot. The image is a bit confusing. |

Sorry everyone. You were all busy while I had a visitor. Give me a minute to read all this. |

Yes to both, Reggie. He was my cousin's grandfather and she's been assured that that was the case. |

No birth for a Harry Jolly in the right place. I wonder if his mother married later. |

There is this birth of a Stanley Thomas in 1908 but I don't think he's yours. The 1911 census states that they've only had one child. |

I only see one child on the 1911 census, Morris Harry, aged 9 months. |
