I am looking for Arthur Gater supposed to have been born in America in 1878 ,he married In Birmingham uk in 1898.
I can`t find him in Birmingham before 1901 his father was Frederick.
I would be grateful for any help please on passenger lists from America.

On the 1901 Census, Arthur does say he was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England

Two Family Trees on ancestry have him as born in Birmingham

One also refers to this birth registration as being his ..............

yes I seen that on the 1911 census can`t understand it.
Maybe John was in America
Another I don`t understand is why he was Frederick on Arthur Gaters b 1878 marriage to Beatrice then changed to John
Also I can`t find a birth for Annie Beofrey John`s wife

Hi Carol.

I really don't think Arthur was born in America.

It just seems odd that the only time "America" is used is on that 1911 form......which,of course,was filled out by his wife.

Did I get mixed up somewhere?
