Jean, are you looking for the parents of John Parker, or of John Parkes/Parks?

If definitely John Parker, then the 1861 census above doesn't seem to be him, and therefore John Parkes's nephew George can't be your gt uncle.

Did your George have a wife or children from whom we can work back to him?

Is this your George Parker?

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about George Parker
Name: George Parker
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1848
Registration District: Manchester
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 20
Page: 666

And John??

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about John Parker
Name: John Parker
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1837
Registration District: Manchester
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 20
Page: 225

Neither record gives parents' name, though, so could be completely wrong, and may have no connection with each other.

If you're looking for ParkER, then the existence ot a related John Parker may be a red herring, if you have only come across the name when you thought you had found George in 1861.

From that Patchem, it looks like the Ancestry census hasn't been mistranscribed - just a different spelling of Parks?

Looks like it is the census transcribed as Parker that may be wrong.

We really need Jean to come back and tell us how she got back to her George Parker.
