Again, sorry to be late answering--busy morning shopping!
A long time ago, I found a death record in 1882 for Eleanor & I made a notation that it said widow of Francis North--I can't remember now where I found it!
I don't know if this is the marriage of my Ellen Hoyes to John North & I haven't seen her refered to as Ellen Boothby-but you never know so thanks for that info.
Still trying to find John & Ann's marriage sometime time before Eleanor was born in 1812. It must be out there somewhere!

Sorry to be late answering-haven't been around today. I noticed that Edward suddenly became 'Henry' E on the census. Aged 4, he & Harriet (6) were in the workhouse in Boston (1841 census) but I didn't spot Eleanor (Ellen).
I have tried to find the marriage of Eleanor's parents-John & Ann. I wondered if he was the John born in Boston in 1780 who would have been a widower if so.
The answer to one question raises many others!!

What makes you think that she 'married' a Francis North?

Also can you post that 1861 census you mention you have her on with son Edward living in Yorkshire, for reference please??

Prickles looks to have posted the correct 1851 and 1861 census for this particular Ellen above and she is still in Lincolnshire on both ??

Eleanor had 2 illegitimate children-one born 1835 in Boston the other in 1836 in Tydd St Mary Lincs. She lived in Boston but married sometime later to Francis North-(can't find the marriage but in 1861 she was widowed & living with her son Edward-calling herself Ellen) in Woodhouse Yorks. Sorry that's all I know

Is it possible to find who the parents of Eleanor Hoyes, baptised Jan 1812 in Freiston Lincs? Their names are not given on the IGI.
There appears to be only one family of Hoyes in Freiston at that time but I don't think that they are Eleanor's parents as their last child was born c 1795-too big a gap I think!
