Yes, this is the correct family and I do have all this data! Mary Ann REEDS who was a witness was I believe the groom's daughter in law or if I have the wrong William then she was his sister in law!

Your input it much appreciated! :-)

I was rather excited by safc's find especially since there was an older William also visiting the same household. However I have traced this Martha READ back and it appears READ is her maiden name so not the one I am seeking. Also the William listed was born Northamptonshire which is also wrong for my Sussex family.

I am still open to suggestions for further sightings if anyone has the time.

Renewed thanks!

Thanks for immediate attention - you all never cease to amaze me.

Yes, I have the marriage record for 1859 and I should have given you William's occupation. I will look further into the 1861 census for Martha READ in Paddington.

Martha was baptised in 1824 at St. Mary's Church, Broadwater - maiden name Groves d/o Henry & Maria. Can't find suitable baptism for William Read/Reed(s) though.

Thanks meanwhile :-)

Can any one spot William & Martha REEDS in the 1861 census for Marylebone where they were enumerated in 1851 and married in 1859? The trouble with this surname is the final s often gets overlooked and the name can be READ etc.

William was born in Sussex possibly Eastbourne c1815 but could be as early as 1802 whilst Martha was born Worthing, Sussex c1824. I think that William died in 1866 in Marylebone. I can't find any mention of Martha after 1859.

Maybe fresh eyes will solve this mystery. Many thanks
