My mother was sent from Stoke on Trent to relatives living at 144 Duke's Brow, (off Adelaide Terrace) and I need to know who they were. How do I do this? |

If you can't find a link between the Haworths's and your mother, contact Stoke Archives and ask for a look-up. |

I'm not sure that Stoke authorities will be able to help with info about an address in Blackburn. |

Looking at Harry's Army records it seems that they had moved to 1, Higher Bank Rd. by November 1915 so someone else was obviously living at the Duke's Row house by then :-( |

Try contacting the library in Blackburn to see if they hold the rates books for the period. |

Thank you very much every one for all your suggestions. Mum's name was/is Lillian Mabel Marson so I think the Haworth's had moved as that name isn't one I know. I am researching my maternal family history and know that mum was at that address with her brother Jack in 1916 and was a pupil at St Silas' School. |

Just returning to Family history research and frustrated that the Blackburn connection is still a mystery. that Mum and her brother were there is an undisputed fact and it was relatives I'm sure .....Povey or Marson connection somewhere. |

Only 1 Povey family in Blackburn in 1901 and 1911 - George has died between the two census, but this shows where he was originally from which is a tad closer to S-on-T . |

I.m sorry I've not been replying through the correct channels. Apologies to those concerned. I haven't done any research re my maternal line recently.. started on Paternal line and had a new grandchild! I will follow up suggestions as to the school and continue to discover who was living at 144, Duke's Brow, Blackburn in 1916. |

Thank you all for replies. I have a great deal information now but the Blackburn link is one that puzzles. Will follow advice re school and library and see what they come up with. I also still can't find a date and place of death for George Ebury born 1867 in Kidderminster. He was alive and kicking in 1922 when he stood against Nancy Astor in an election for Parliament, as the organiser of the National Unemployed Committee Again. I have lots of info on George up to 1922 with a possible last known address, from the electoral role entry of 1937 , 69 Lady Margaret Road, Camden, St Pancras, London where a George Ebury is living with Amanda Ebury, Eva Alice Ebury, George William Ebury, Leonard Ebury and Susan Jane Ebury, If this is 'my' George he would be about 70 then. I have drawn a complete blank trying to find a date of death. Any suggestions gratefully received. |
