I am trying to confirm which William Kettley was my great grandfather. There are so many trees with this name on. All I know for sure is that my grandfather Arthur Kettley was born in 1902, his mother was Florence Ada Kettley and his father was unnamed on the birth certificate. They lived in Brentwood. However, by the time Arthur married in 1938, his father was named on his marriage certificate as William Kettley, builder, deceased. |

Often the father's name on the marriage certificate was made up to hide the fact that someone was illegitimate, |

I think that William Kettley was just an invention by Arthur to 'save face' in front of his bride and their family. |

Whose son was Richard? Is James Fuller shown as a widower on the marriage cert? |

Could this be the other son who was Richard Fuller in 1911? |

Florence in 1891 - George from the 1911 looks to be her brother: |

James Fuller has his second name William first on the 1911 - I would guess that Arthur combined that with his own surname for his father on the marriage record. |

Thanks for your email Cynthia, very helpful as I wasn't aware of the system! I will digest some of the suggestions. I am very open to the name on the marriage certificate being made up. Charles Kettley is the fathers name on Florence's marriage certificate to Fuller. |
