Just a PS re your mention in your OP of a big white house. (Although I'm not sure if you mean your mother was born there, or Elizabeth Jane.)
Here's Elizabeth Jane in 1891 (below), with parents, 5 brothers, and 2 step-brothers.
The address is Tram Road Cottage, which doesn't sound very big, but maybe it was in comparison to neighbouring addresses, or seemed so to a child. Or maybe she wasn't born at home.
