Thank you all for your input and with spending time to ponder over all the input there are clearly two families with an overlap of 'same names' but the one including Herbert is mine - thank goodness you have sorted that for me. |

I presume you have looked for Kate as Catherine or Katherine |

Yes Maureen, that's the Herbert I am following but are there two Kate Burrow as I can only find the one marriage - I am starting to wonder if my head is facing the right way....? |

Thanks Mike this is a real puzzle. William seems to be two people at once! I have him in the 1891 cencus with an age that looks like 37 and he is a coal miner, birth place Wortley ( there is one in Leeds). He has 3 children with Kate aged 27, who becomes a widow by 1901 and is then 44. It is not that unusual for ancestors to change their info but this one is really stretching it towards incredulity! |

There is a correction made on the 1861 I posted at the beginning |

The 1861 posted by Mike has been altered on Ancestry to show father as Alexander and not Andrew |

Thanks Mike but I don't think they would be so far out on his age - by 1861 I would expect him to be 6 |
