I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT MY GREAT AUNTIE MARGERY (MARJORIE BESSIE) BISHOP BORN IN SEP 1906. IN THE 1911 CENSUS SHE WAS LIVING WITH THE FAMILY AT 51 MAIN STREET, CADOXTON, BARRY. I CANNOT FIND OUT WHEN SHE DIED OR DETAILS OF HER DAUGHTER. ALL I KNOW IS MY FATHER REMEMBERS MEETING THE DAUGHTER IN AROUND 1957 - 1959 AND SHE WAS MARRIED TO A POLICEMAN IN BRISTOL. MY FATHER ALSO REMEMBERS BEING TOLD THAT MARGERY DIED YOUNG. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Start with freebmd........look for a marriage.

..........you can't hope to find her daughter or her death until you know her husband's surname

OR............. are you saying that the daughter was illegitimate?

In which case.........look for Bishop/Bishop births

What was the correct registered version of this woman's name?

Hello, Margery was born in Barry, South Wales. The likelihood is that the child was illegitimate as I cannot find a marriage for Margery. :-)

I have landed at Brassington, as a marriage but discounted - no death 'early'

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 27 Jul 2013 22:19

Glamorgan Archives said that they do not have the records for Cadoxton Parish Church from 1899 to 1918 so they were not able to help. I was hoping to find the Baptism to check the spelling. Cadoxton Parish Church have not got back to me I have requested the information twice.

Do you have any idea what the daughter's anme was? Was she the one who married the policeman?

southwark

southwark Report 27 Jul 2013 22:49

Hi, I have no idea of her name, I didn't know she existed until my Dad told me a couple of weeks ago. I wondered if she would be called Margaret as that was popular at the time at a family name.

southwark

southwark Report 27 Jul 2013 22:55

Hi, yes she was the one who married a policeman and they did live in Bristol.
