Charles John Lambert married Violet Richardson, Mar 26th 1927, the parish church of St mary Lambeth.

Charles John Lambert died 8th Jan 1955, age 53. Living at 31 Newport St, Lambeth, gas board driver. Death notified by sister E Titchener (could be Litchener, but pretty sure it is Titchenor), 46 Mountain House, SE11, which nowadays seems to be a building with about 30 flats inhabited by seriously struggling families.

My question is, who is E Titchener? Sister of Charles John. A search of a child Lambert mmn Quinnear does not find her. Nor can I find a death of
E Titchener after 1955.

Maybe not spent enough time and effort on this,but trying to pack for a holiday, so hope someone will come up with something.

So the mystery woman is Ellen C Titchener, right address. I can't believe she is the one who died in 1966 age 98 to be the sister of Charles born 1902.

I can't find a decent death of Robert, presumably 1853, 1854 or 1855.

But Ellen Caroline Webber fits well, died 1995, born 1906.

Nope I am all confused. Hope you can carry on folks.

I will run with Ellen C HICKEY marrying Henry W R Tichener,and possibly later marrrying Ernest F Webber. But how does she get to be the sister of Charles John Lambert? I think this needs a bit of sideways thinging.

No sign of Ellen C Hickey on the 1911 census.

I have to say that I'm wary of that Ellen Caroline death in 1995 because the middle name on the ER from 1933 to 1939 gives her middle name as Catherine .....

Somebody on ancestry has a private tree with an Ellen Caroline Hickey b 1906. There is apparently a photo.

"I am afraid that this particular brick wall is going to take some bashing. According to Grans marriage cert her full name was Ellen Caroline Hickey, age 22. Father Robert William Hickey (deceased) although havent been able to find death record. He was a carman. She was married in church after banns in 1928.

I honestly don't know if she was baptised. I have found her two brothers registered at Lambeth with mothers name Sarah Caroline Bosher together with the parents marriage entry in 1903. I also found a sister who was born in 1914 and died 1915 of whom my father never knew about. Gran would have been about 8 or 9 and yet never ever spoke of it. She talked about her brothers and her father. Her mother remarried in 1923 and her stepfather was a witness at her wedding to my grandfather. I have tried everything I can think of but still come up with nothing.

I would have thought that I would have at least found them on the 1911 census at this rate I will have to wait for the 1921 census and hope they are there."
