Find Ancestors

John Wolfenden was married to Emma Lancashire (b. 1886- D.1939) and I can trace this marriage in 1910.

I am then told that, following Emma's death, John married his late wife's sister, Lottie (b. 1884) who had, in the meantime, been married to an American. I can trace a marriage in 1941 of a John Wolfenden and a Lottie Parker but cannot find the possible marriage of Lottie Lancashire to a ?? Parker.

I did find this one on FreeBMD but, for some reason of another, the spouse was not shown (i.e. there were an odd number on the page and she was not shown) - I think this will be the one. Thanks for all your help.

If you buy the marriage certificate for Lottie and John it will give you his age at the time of marriage, his occupation, his address at the time of marriage and also his father's name and occupation which will be a start.
It will also give you her age, address, occupation and father's name so you can confirm that it is the Lottie you are looking for.

I have just had a look for the marriage you said you found for John Wolfenden in 1941 but the only one I can see to a Parker is to a Lilly E. Parker, NOT to a Lottie Parker.

John Wolfenden and Lottie Parker were both widowed at about the same time (if the death of John Henry above is the right one!) - must have thrown them together even more than usual.

If the probate is him, then you now know he was born abt.1892. However, you will still need the marriage cert. to find out his occupation, and who his father was which will help find him in 1911 and other census records!

I am actually looking into this family tree for a friend, who is a Wolfenden (the John Wolfenden mentioned in my OP was his grandfather), and I was off on FreeBMD and Ancestry doing a little more looking on his other side. Yes this is the family and thank you for so much help.

However looking at the image I can see that whoever transcribed this page has taken the Lilly E. from the marriage above Lottie's by mistake. The image DOES have John Wolfenden marrying Lottie Parker.
