Hi Everybody

I now have a registered birth date for my missing ancestor and cousin Margaret Snowden Richardson [ Nee Prest ] born 26 Dec 1917 in Ripon, Yorkshire.

Reminder that Margaret married a George Stanley Richardson in 1939 in Grantham. George's father listed as Robert Richardson Engineer. He did not act as a witness so possible he was deceased at time of marriage.

Recent receipt of what I had hoped was George's Birth Certificate seems now not to be to the parents who I had gauged was....so back to the drawing board there.

Parents of Margaret are Maude Elizabeth Snowden and Stanley Prest.

Despite having Margaret's birth date I still cannot find any other record for her other then birth and marriage....am presuming that she has likely passed away but todate cannot find any Death record in the UK.

Any ideas on how I could progress greatly appreciated....possible Margaret and George had children but as yet nothing confirmed...have found children born in Scarboro to a Prest/Richardson but unfortunately different parents.

Hope somebody can help my searching !!!

Having lived in the East Midlands I know that Grantham hospital was downgraded and specialist medical help could be at Lincoln, Nottingham or Leicester. My husband's aunt's death is registered in London although she was living in Kent. She had to go for specialist help in a London hospital and died there.

In the RAF he could have had an overseas posting and children could have been born overseas so not registered in UK, likewise deaths of service personnel and their spouses overseas not registered in UK. For this you need to search Military Records on here.

Specialist RAF hospitals of the time in UK, Nocton Hall Lincs; Wroughton, Wilts; Uxbridge London; Ely Cambridgeshire; Halton Bucks; Cosford Shropshire. In other areas of UK e.g Scotland and South West England there was army/naval medical cover. This means deaths and births could be registered almost anywhere.

Hope you find them :-)

Don't make assumptions......they can lead you astray

Fathers seldom stand as witnesses to marriages of their offspring.

Depending on how the question was posed, one would hope that the groom would have said whether or not his father was deceased.

Margaret's death will only be on line if it occurred up to 2006

How OLD was the groom?

Did you check freebmd for the Richardson/Smithson marriage..........to find out the forename of the male?

Marriages Dec 1914 (>99%)

RICHARDSON Thomas R Smithson Lincoln 7a 1151
Smithson Florence M Richardson Lincoln 7a 1151

For Reggie

The Thomas Richardson you mention is the same one I thought George's parents however after obtaininhg that birth certificate of that Stanley George the father is Thomas Reading Richardson not Thomas Robert Richardson which is what I'd hoped.

Re Stanley George's [ or George Stanley ] am aware he changed around names re his age this approximately 23 on marriage certificate to Margaret so likely born 1916 ?

For Patin Cyprus
Re possible posting overseas and taking up residency that possibility.

Re death up to 2006....i have checked National Archives for deaths after that date and no record so there is possibility still alive and in their 90's

That would be fanatastic if I could trace them.

Also no luck any children...am aware that if went abroad with RAF and stayed then searching children's births could be complicated.

Many thanks for advice and tips so far...very much appreciated.
