Civil registration began in Scotland in 1855. You will not find a birth but might find a baptism on the old parish records |

I never thought about the births only been registered because of the baptism ... This side has been a nightmare because of the Howat/Hewit/Howatt/Howit/Howitt etc ... so many ways of spelling the one name. |
