Hmm that's interesting, Mary's sister Ann and her husband Joshua Bates called their first son Septimus. It seems to have been a family name though I haven't found its origin yet. |

In the 1851 Census, you missed off one person from the household, namely, John Behan, Nephew. John Behan is my Great, Great Grandfather. His parents were Malachi Behan and Mary Ann Clark (Ann’s sister, hence the Nephew). Malachi and Mary Ann were married in Rotherham on 23rd April 1832. Mary Ann Clark was born on 2nd Nov 1817 at Cathedral St Peter, Sheffied. Parents were William Clark and Elizabeth. They had another daughter the previous year, Ann Clark on 10th Nov 1816, same place. |

Thanks also for Joshua Bate which is another possibility though I find it a bit unusual that he didn't call any of his sons James if that was his dad's name. |
