Yes Astra I will look at that one. Thanks Chris, just checked the Charlotte Street address. It it's clearly not my family.I should have been more wary of Camden.
If this is Diana's death in 1863 then Richard didn't waste any time in marrying again the same year.

Hi
I have Diana's death as 1862,buried 7/04/1862 in Camden.
It is possible that the Jane in 1861 was 22 rather than twelve or as argyllgran says the mistake could be on the 1851 census.
If I had the 1841 census it would show if there even was a daughter Jane born before 1841.
I need to do lots more work.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 16 Apr 2013 12:18

And the Diana situation doesn't make sense, either.
If she died in 1857 (and it's the only death of a Diana Burrows which comes up on FreeBMD in a likely place), what's she doing on the 1861 census?

It certainly seems to be the correct Richard on the 1861 record.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 16 Apr 2013 11:36

The Jane situation doesn't make sense.

If there were two Janes, the first one would have had to die in 1851 or later, but the supposed second one was born before that, in 1848.
And where is she in 1851?

It looks as though the age given in 1851 should have been 2, although in the image it clearly says 12.

These are the only Jane Burrows born in Middlesex 1837-40 (per FreeBMD):

Births Mar 1838 (>99%)
Burrows Jane Staines 3 230
Births Sep 1839 (>99%)
Burrows Jane Clerkenwell 3 63

I am so so sorry.Having posted I had to deal with a crisis in the kitchen.
Thank you all.I did say 1841 only because the family details are confusing.Richard and his second wife,Elizabeth, both had children from first marriages.
The 1871 census names all the children as Burrows but the first three were Bartons.
Reason I needed 1841 census.
1851 shows Richard and Diana with children Sarah Jane aged 16 years and Jane aged 12 years,
1861 census shows them with Jane aged 12 years.
Did the first Jane die after 1851 ?if not she would have been 22 rather than 12 in 1861.
Sarah Jane was baptised 9 years after birth.
The Parish Record says that the Jane baptised in 1848 was born in 1848.I had at first thought that this was the Jane born c1839 (1851 census).

Hmmm - could be, Vicci, but the age is a bit out, and where's his wife?

This (below) is the only person in 1841 of right name and POB (age a couple of years out) per Ancestry, but in the image she's with a William Burrows, born c1811, so doesn't look like her:
