This may be Thomas H. He was a shoe blacker. EDIT just re-read thread. See this has already been posted. One of many boys who graduated from the Ragged Schools and were employed on the streets of London polishing shoes. All very organised and they had their own uniforms etc. Maybe George was in one of the Ragged Schools at the time. That Pawnbroker one still looks good. I think the age is a mistranscribe on Ancestry. Looks more like aged 16 to me.

Thankyou so much Vera (good thinking on the Teresa G Hall age).. in the 1911 census it says-

George Hall - 34 yrs +old- b- 1877 St Pancras- occupation Drill Instructor Army Pensioner.
Catherine Hall 33yrs- b-Ilfracombe, Devon
Son,- Cecil G Hall b-9 yrs-1901- CLAPTON HACKNEY
son. Reginald Hall - 8yrs- b-1903 -St Pancras
son, Vincent Hall-2yrs-1909 St Pancras
Visitor, Elizabeth Harris (relative) 59yrs old, b-1852, Ilfracombe Devon ( Catherine's Aunt)
( Teresa G Hall is not on this Census, but as I didnt find it myself, it may have just been forgotton to be wrote down))
Adress; 22 Maitland Park London: District St Pancras
.
(In 1901 they were living in Hackney)

Did I mention that on the 1899 marriage cert, it gives George's address as 6 Kemble Rd, South Tottenham?.. if thats any help, he had an older brother Thomas Henry Hall, that may have been living in that area. x Any help would be so greatfully accepted...I'v ran out of thoughts as my searches are limited!....

Going by the Theresa Gertrude Hall b 1900...There is a Death, showing up on FBMD. for Theresa Gertrude Hall for March-1902 in Hampstead ..I wonder if thats her!

Linda I had this on your other thread.

I can't for the life of me find them in 1911. I wanted to check Teresa G's age as I wonder if that 1901 census giving dob as 1894 is correct. . Catherine would have been very young in that case. Wonder if that 7 is a fancy 1

Can you give some more info on the 1911 you have found ie names of other children. Just to try to pinpoint where George may have been in 1901 EDIT 1891.

Here is a possible birth for Teresa G. Barnstaple is the reg district for Ilfracombe and parents married in 1899.

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
about Theresa Gertrude Hall Name: Theresa Gertrude Hall
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1900
Registration district: Barnstaple
Inferred County: Devon

Martyn... I never gave that a thought...I think I would like to settle for Christiana's "rank outsider" ( see 4 posts above)...otherwise I'll be searching for months and my husband will divorce me lol.... However, if any one of you have access to Ancestry, I would love to know who the rest of the Wilson Family householders were, and, there actual residence if possible?

linda could he have been in a hospital or the like,i do not know how to check the census for hospital patient's,
on family search there are alot of george hall's who are in institution's,it would be a trek to look through them as there are 5,000+ entries.

Linda

Linda Report 11 Apr 2013 15:15

ps..Christina...are there any other wilson's in the family with them, or is it just William and George?

Linda

Linda Report 11 Apr 2013 10:14

Hi Christina, he got married in Barnstaple, Devon in 1899....to Catherine Yeo..they had a child 5 years before the marriage in 1894, which I suppose could place him in that area around 1893?...although his older brother is a boarder in Islington in 1891...George turns back up in Hackney with his wife and children in 1901, and 1911 in Maitland Park St Pancras, London...Hid Mother was living as a housekeeper for her brother in law in Hackney 1891, so she was helping him bring up his children...I just cant see her putting her only child left in a home ( she lost 3 of her other children..early deaths)......The assistant pawn broker is interesting

ChristinaS

ChristinaS Report 10 Apr 2013 21:03

Here's a rank outsider:

Geo. Hall living in Stratford, West Ham, born 1881 (the actual image is 16 not 10)
born Islington (St.Pancras is in the borough of Islington)

He's living with a William Wilson, who is a pawnbroker. George is an assistant pawnbroker.

Where did George get married?

There's an Alice Hall b.1875 living in Stoke Newington, Hackney as a domestic servant. She's down as being born in Kentish Town, which is right next door to St.Pancras.
