Many thanks for all your help. The change in spelling of the name went from Wild/Wilds/Wiles up to 1851 and stayed as Wiles from then on. |

Ethel - there's a death notice in The Cornishman for a John Wiles who died 13 October 1903 after having been ill for several months with bronchitis. Lived at the Warren. |

Think the birthplace for Mary Ann on the 1871 census is Perranzabuloe. |

I wonder if this is the death of Cotton Jenkyn/Jenkin (in which case that could be the reason for not finding a marriage for John and Mary Ann if she was still married to Cotton):- |

Many thanks for all your replies.I have John and Mary Ann on all the census records, and on 1871 John is single and living with with Mother Nancy. By 1881 he has two children. Ethel |

Wonder if middle name is mother's maiden name - as per her sister in 1871: |

Strange that John has a middle initial on 1871 census which is not helping at all |

I can't find a marriage either. Perhaps they never actually married. Your best bet would be to buy the daughter's birth certificate (perhaps her middle name would be a clue?):- |

Hello Ethel, what makes you think the marriage may have been between those years? (If indeed there was one) |
