Please could someone help me find this family in the 1881 census. I just can't find them anywhere!!

John Edginton b 1830 Weald, Oxfordshire
Charlotte Edginton b 1840 Burton Bradstock, Dorset
Andrew Edginton b1867 Hendon, Middlesex
Ann Edginton b1869 Hendon, Middlesex
Matilda Jane Edginton b1878 Marylebone, London

I have them in 1871, 1891 (John died in 1899) and 1901 but I believe there are probably children born between 1869 and 1878 that would show on the 1881 census.

Any help would be welcomed. Many thanks :-)

Thanks Jonesey - unfortunately not the one - the Edginton/Edgington name is very common in Oxfordshire and there are quite a few John's around.

My family had moved to London in the 1850's and were still there in the 1890's.

I found a birth of a daughter Charlotte in Hampstead 1874 so I'm guessing they were still in London in 1881 - but I just can't find them!!!

Thanks anyway.

Well found Margee.

If it is the correct John and Charlotte, the son Albert was born on 21/8/1881 and at the time of his baptism the family address was 63 Chalk Farm Rd.

On the 1881 census, following along Chalk Farm Road, no 63 has been left blank.

These would all appear to be further children - thank you. The Charles Henry baptism was a grandson of John.( He had a daughter with his first wife called Julia who married a Wells).

Interesting that the address is left blank - I wonder where they were - I guess we'll never know!!

But it showed Charles Henry's parents as John & Charlotte but baptised the same day was Harriet Wells Edginton, daughter of Julia at the same address.

Apologies Margee I meant to say the Harriet Wells Edginton baptism was the grand daughter - got a bit confused. You are quite right - Charles Henry was the son of John and Charlotte. Sorry for the confusion!
