The image of 1881 shows the wife's name to be Camilla H.........nothing remotely like the transcription...... |

I know this isn't your chap, but it's a perfect illustration of the point about spelling |

In the 1881 Census they were living at Low Rd. Wortwell but they married in 1871 so could have moved by the 1881 Census |

Don't close your mind to the possibility of a different spelling...................you MUST be flexible in your thinking |

Hi Chris, yes I have the marriage details of John and Hannah but its John's father Isaac I need to find out more about and possibly details of his spouse but there are quite a few Isaac's around the area and am unable to find a family where Isaac is head with spouse and children including John with the right age. |

Alan, do not rule anyone out just because they are spelled 'Clark' instead of 'Clarke'. Spelling of surnames was not an exact science in those days and a very large percentage of people didn't even know how to spell their names. |

Thanks for all your help but I think I will have to keep looking as I cannot find an Isaac Clarke with a son John to match with the family I have. |

The 1881 Census is correct but it is John's father Isaac I am trying to find, he is down on their marriage certificate as being John's father. I have found various Isaac Clarke's but none of them have a son John being about the right age and being married to Pamela Hannah Gower, sometimes down as Hannah Pamela Gower. |

It has to be Clarke with an 'e'. Also needs to be Alburgh not Aldborough, date may be a year out. |
