My mums paternal gran was Esther Matilda Emons born 1852 Bethnal Green. I have her on all the census including her marriage toJohn Batchelor and they are on the 1881 census.
John died in 1884 from TB and in 1891 she was with Frederick Hewitt her first cousin and they had chidlren May born 1891 and Eliza born 1886. She married Fred in 1893 but he died in 1899. She then married her BIL Charles David Hewitt in 1900 ,Fred bros, Charles had been married to HER sister Mary Ann Charlotte Hewitt nee Emons who died in 1899, What a round robin!!
They dont show on the 1901 living togther.
Esther is with her married daighter Agnes Lucas in 1911 and show as as marrued BUT Charles died in 1906.
HELP i cant find a death for Esther afer 1911 .
I bought a death cert for an Esther M Hewitt in 1934 that would fit but it aint her!! Name: Esther M Hewitt Birth Date: abt 1853 Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1935 Age at Death: 82 Registration district: Wandsworth Inferred County: Greater London Volume: 1d Page: 579
NOT her as she was an Esther Martha and her daughter was the informant who doesnt fit into our tree,
She must have died sometime cos cant still be alive !! lol
Can anyone see something I may have missed.
I have all census and marriage certs so dont waste your precious time on these
here she is in 1911 with her married daughter Agnes and grandson James who is her son Arthurs boy by his first marriage

I took ages to find Charles death , bought death certs that seemed to fit him based on the fact she was said to be married not widowed in 1911.
Took a chance on the 1906 death cert even though he was only shown as Charles not Charles David and hit the jackpot cos it was him and Esther's married daughter was the informant.
So not sticking as Esther's death will show as Esther Matilda OR even Esther M but still not seeing a likely death,
Aint it annoying cos you know they have gone :-(

Hi Shirley,
I wonder if it's one of those that is missing from the GRO.
I have a chap who I know where and when he died as the 1911 Census lists him as having been alive at midnight but passed away after that time and is now deceased.
No Cert has been found for him.
I am wondering about yours being the West Ham one in 1928, I know the age is out but............ Nope, just seen her on the 1911
Kind regards Amanda

Thanks Londonbelle No the family stayed in the Hackney/ East London area . some addresses for the family are consistent and seemed to pass tenancy though the family on the census's.
I just can;'t find her death!!
Amanda I think she is one of these too whose death hasn't been passed on to the GRO

Shirley, I'm sure you have probably tried this but if she was buried with some of her family that may be the way to go to find a death date.
I found a date of burial for my G. G. Grandfather but have never found his death registration and I think he must have been "missed" from the indexes. He is buried in Scotland (with his wife) where he had lived for over 50 years but I am blowed if I can find a copy of his death regitration.

Gins yes that is her on the 1901 . It wasnt legal to marry your dead sisters hubby so maybe they were shopped or something.
James, Herbert and Agnes were in fact surname Batchelor as they are her children by John, Eliza is her daughter by Fred Hewitt.
The two girls on the 1911 posted as sisters are RosettaAda/Rose b1898 to Charles and her sister Mary And May b1891 to Esther & Fred Hewitt pre their marraige. Took me ages to pin them down .
Now where May and Rosetta were on the 1901 is a puzzle.
Charles had a son Frederick who died in 1902 aged 13 and one of Esther's daughters was the informant and describes herself as cousin which is true . The same daughter Esther Jane Hounslow nee Batchelor who married in Poplar in 1896 was the informant on Charles death cert in 1906. Seems the family all stayed together
