I have a William Simpson born 1915 apparantly in Wetwang, Yorkshire, he married a Shiela Alice Barmby in 1948, His father was called Thomas who is shown as deceased on the Marriage Certificate, I am trying to connect him to his mother and father and if he had any siblings and wondered if anyone had access to the parish records.

still hit the brick wall, William Simpson was born ca 1913/14, his marriage certificate gives no clues either as his wife's parents were the witnesses, born too late for the 1911 census, where do I go now I wonder, do not know where he was born, his father is shown as Thomas Simpson deceased on the marriage certificate.

At the start you said that William was born 1915 Wetwang but now you are saying c1913/1914 and dont know where born? What does the marriage certificate say for his age and does it give an occupation for his father besides being deceased?


There is 1 Thomas coming up in the Driffield area in 1911 ( this is the area for Wetwang )

the reason for the date of birth is that he is shown as 34 when he got married, so I was playing safe, rightly or wrongly, sorry for any confusion. These are the only clues I have at the moment.

no occupation for his father, William's occupation is that of Farm worker living in Newton on Derwent at the time of his marriage, think the farm is still there, wouldthey have records do you think?

Another dead end unfortunately, received DC but it was for another William, born same era but occuipation different, hey ho, back to the research table.

I have it on good authority that William died between 1993 and 1998 in Hull but still cannot find details of his death on either this site or free bmd, any help appreciated
