Hi there,
I am looking for more information on the parents and families of Ernest Wood and his wife Marjory Adeline Butler, who emmigrated to Canada from England in about 1920. Ernest, we beleive, was born in England and Margory was from New Zealand.
This is the all of the information I have on them as I am carrying out some research for a friend of mine:
Ernest Wood :
DOB: 1892 in January but not sure about month Place: Birmingham, England
Siblings:
Brother: Jack Wood Sister: Edith Wood
Parents:
Father: John Joseph Wood - Stated on Ernest's marriage certificate that father was a Glass Manufacturer. Stella recalls that the factory was in Birmingham. Mother: Alice Wood
We think everyone was from Birmingham but not certain. He was married to Marjorie Adeline Butler in November,1919. At the time he was living at 41 Oxford Road, Acorns Green, Warwickshire.
Wife's Name:
Marjorie Adeline Butler Also 27 years old so would have been born in 1892 as well. Her father - William James Butler
Your help is much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Peter

Edwin Ernest was born in 1892 so which one is which? EDIT: Ernest James died in the December quarter of 1891. So Edwin Ernest was one listed on the 1901 and as just Ernest on the 1911.

Hi
I'm a Woody by marriage. Hubby's lot came from the Black Country rather than Birmingham. I can't say for certain but I doubt if your friend's Woody's are mine. I do live not far though from Oxford Road, Acocks Green, Birmingham B27. I've looked at an image on Google Maps of number 41 and I am fairly certain that the house is old enough to have been the one Ernest was shown at in the 1911.
Just thought your friend might like to know.

Marjorie Adeline BUTLER. Are you still looking for information about the daughter of William James BUTLER? There is an initiative on re the BUTLER family in NZ right at the moment when we prepare a small ceremony to acknowledge the 200th birthday of Captain William BUTLER,(1814-1875) on the 9th January 2014. He would be Marjorie's grandfather. The home he lived in at Mangonui in Doubtless Bay has been refurbished and there is also a Whaling museum beside the house. I have quite a bit of information on the family - William James was one of 13 children - and perhaps it would be more convenient to exchange information by email.
I am a gt-gt-granddaughter of Captain Butler who was one of NZ's early settlers. Best wishes, Jan CARR
