My very first thread :-)

Not sure Ancestry was ever updated with the image - does anyone have FMP sub that they could save and mail me the image?

To save you going to the bottom

Registration District: Wolverhampton
Sub District: Wolverhampton Eastern Enumeration District:
Ecclesiastical Parish: All Saints
Civil Parish: Wolverhampton Municipal Borough:
Wolverhampton Address: 38, Sutherland Place, Wolverhampton
County: Staffordshire

John (Bilston 1850) and Eliza (Dudley 1844) were my great grandparents. In 1881 they were living in Huyton-with-Roby and in 1901 in Newport Monmoutshire.

But try as I might I cannot find them in the 1891 census.

I believe the family in 1891 would have been:

John Cording Bilston 1850
Eliza Cording Dudley 1844
Martha Cording Bilston 1874
John Cording Scotland 1875
Thomas Cording Bilston 1878
Charles Alfred Willenhall/Bilston 1880
Mary Ann Cording Liverpool 1882
Agnes Cording Oakengates Shropshire 1884
Joseph Cording Oakengates 1886
Gertrude Cording Willenhall 1889

There might even be other children - in 1911 census Eliza answered the question about live births as 12 - and I have only 9 (Mary Ann Silvia died in 1880). As far as I am aware they moved to Newport around 1897/8 so I expected to find them in the Wolverhampton area. At the time of Gertrude's birth in April 1889 their address was St Ann's Terrace, Ann Street, Willenhall. I have trawled Willenhall street by street in 1891 to no avail. I have admitted defeat.

Can anyone find them?

Jude

Gee Report 12 Jun 2011 10:18

It's not on Ancestry

I have submited the details so they can add it under the correct name!

Well done on the find Colin

Gee

Gee Report 12 Jun 2011 14:21

I dont see why not, I presume like Ancestry the original transcription will remain along side your submission?

Gee

Gee Report 13 Jun 2011 07:11

How odd Colin. You think they could at least add a postem or something, I mean youre not asking them to change the actual census lol

My relatives name was on the actual census form as 'Jean' when in fact her name was 'Joan' so Ancestry added 'or Joan'...which is what I thought FMP might do

Hey Ho.....we try :-)

Ancestry allow you to "update" with interpretations/mis-transcriptions so that anyone searching at a later date has the benefit of this. But as the page is missing on Ancestry I can't do that!

:-)

Judith

I emailed Ancestry so we'll see if they can add a postem or something

Hi Colin

Did you delete your posts?

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 30 Jun 2011 20:33

Colin your 4 or 5 posts have gone including the census results you found..did you remove these? Not a problem if you did because I had already recorded what you found...just wondered.

Jude - it would have been a lot easier if you'd posted the census ref, viz:
Archive Reference:RG12 Piece Number:2236 Folio:9 Page:17

One could then search 1891 for this ref on Ancestry and see it's not there - at least you can if you use an olld-style search.
One can also go the other way, and search by census ref on FMP at:

mgnv - the census reference IS posted albeit with the rest of the census detail :-)

I KNOW the image of the page is missing on Ancestry - that's what this original thread two years ago discovered. Colin found it on FMP (and then deleted his posts) - I couldn't find/remeber if I had the original image off FMP - so Marie kindly sent it
