Have you tried Search Trees again just in case new ones have been added?

There is a Carol who has a Richard born 1940 in Ireland in her tree.

Could this be Carol? Have you already contacted her?

just like to update everyone on my search. i had a private e mail from a wonderful lady who has managed to trace Richard, Paula and Carol, up until 1980. its the nearest i have ever gotten and i am so grateful to her. i have sent all the details she forwarded to me to the Salvation Army family search unit, to see if they can take it any further. and of coarse i will keep up the search myself.x <3 <3

Ha!! Don't give up yet. There has to be a solution. The problem you are up against is the dates of your search. Australian privacy laws are such that sourcing information in the immediate past is very difficult.

And you could contact the Salvation Army Family Tracing Service. Heavens I did not think about that at first. I do have more options for searching in the last 50 years in Australia.

You will notice most of these are based in Sydney NSW. You might need to be directed to Victoria or Canberra. They also might not be able to help however it is worth a try. This list was sent to me by the Salvos in response to a request for information about my OHs family. The search is progressing, very slowly, fingers crossed.

Hi Theresa, Have you tried the Trove digitised newspapers.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=TIERNEY+1961

I used the name and the date 1961. You can vary the search criteria and use " " to keep the names as a phrase.

This will often bring up family events like births, deaths and marriages from newspapers.

Be aware you might need to correct the digitised text which is an adventure on its own.

Just thought of another search which I will do for you. You probably have this info but it won't hurt to confirm it.

Hi Theresa,

Have been trying for you. There are a lot of phone numbers in VIC, QLD and NSW so I think my best would be to try and ring some each day. Here is a useful site for you www.pictureaustralia.org I will go on it now and see what I can do. Found my Irish lot who firstly came from England. Still have my Irish kin. Love Rona.

Hi, have you tried contacting the other people on this site who may have him in their tree? Just put his name and details into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar). You can contact the tree owners for further info.
