Hi All looking for some help in trying to find my nephews ancestors,
I am stuck at
William J Biggar who married Mary E Griffith in sept 1929
there Children Robert and William were born december 1930
Robert is my nephews granfather and lives in Manchester and is 80 this year

Can anyone find any other info that may help me go back further

Any idea what the J stands for and when/where they died?

thanks flick, any info is a bonus, not got marriage cert yet was seeing if anyone had other methods of finding info who were more experienced at this than me.
I found marriage date from free bdm and births the same I dont know how to use other sources

Although they married in Manchester the isn't a William J. Biggar birth there, so although the name is unusual it's impossible to sort this out without the cert.

This is the certificate you need.
It was registered in the Sept Quarter (the marriage itself could have been July August or Sept )

Marriages Sep 1929

Biggar William J - Griffith Manchester S. 8d 367
Griffith Mary E - Biggar Manchester S. 8d 367

This could be him but you would have to check his age on marriage cert and father's name on both certs to confirm

The only other one is this but that would make him 37 at marriage ( again, check the marriage cert first)

The one found in 1911 would be the one born in Penrith district as Penrith covers Castle Sowerby.

Best way to be sure is to order the marriage certificate and go off the age on that.
