When I did the search on the 1911 census I put Cranbrook as the residential place, you'll have to pay for credits to see the actual transcription.

Looks like Christina has now arrived in England. Here she is working for George Campbell (Baronet - Landowner of Scoland) no less.

Hi Helen I didn't see your info until after I had posted another message. Thank you so much for your effort. It looks as if he had 2 other children James and Christina. Neither of those are on the 1901 census. Maybe it was just that they had left home. Or did they die. The mystery deepens. I found an old note from an uncle (who died 20 years ago) this morning, that said that James Richer was the landlord of this pub and that he had 1 son. Looks like he had 4 children.
I wondered if his children James and Christina had died. Were they all born in Sussex?

Hi Helen Thank you so much. Originally I had his wife down as Christina Ballingall, born in Scotland then this morning I found info that he was the landlord of a pub The Globe & Rainbow and I put out a new search for him and found that he was married to Janet Petty. It seems that the Christina was his first wife then. I only found that out a long time ago on the familysearch site and didn't know how accurate it was. It looks by your info as if there was a daughter with the same name, which bears that out. You wouldn't have access to any death records in the area would you to see if they both died?

Well as he didn't marry till 1893 then Charles wasn't Janets so I would invest in the eldest sons birth certificate to see who he married beforehand
