It only took 5 years! but through Genes Reunited I have discovered what happened to Lydia Rhoda Lucas. No marriage records have been found, but through conversations with direct descendants it has been found that Lydia Rhoda Lucas appears as Rhoda Cohen on the 1901 census with husband Alexander Cohen in Bethnal Green. She had 4 children with Alexander, including Annie Elizabeth Cohen (shown as Elizabeth) on 1901 census and known as Lizzie in later life. After Alexander died in the 1900s she had another son Albert Ellis. |

Hi everyone, it has been a year since the last update to his thread and I have not made any further progress. My ancestor Henry William Lucas definitely ended up in an Industrial school in Barnet where he learned the skills to become a butcher. As to what happened to his three sisters following the death of his father is still uncertain. As they were living in one of the poorest parts of London, I wonder if they could have been sent to Australia or NZ as pauper children. As more records become accessible it might be possible to find out one day. |

Assuming Annie did lose her middle name after adoption there is a possible marriage |

You may also have to consider Annie as Constable. |

I note on the 1811 both Lydia (mother) and Lydia (daughter) are recorded as Rhoda. Have you seen this marriage: |

Just a thought Paul - did their mother re-marry? I had a similar problem and found them on a census with another surname (actually, the mother in my case didn't actually marry the second time, but the she and the children were recorded with the chap's name). |
