Emma

Can you give us the full name of your father?

It is quite common for year end births to be recordr the following year. You have 6 weeks to register a birth.

Births Jun 1895

Bishop Phyllis Mary Cranbrook 2a 792

WayneTracey Report 8 Apr 2008 14:43

I would suggest that this maybe her marriage?

Marriages Jun 1927 (88%)

Bishop Phyllis M Axbridge 5c 1047
GACHET Augustus E B Axbridge 5c 1047

Without you coming back and giving us your fathers name it'll be difficult to prove.

I suspect that you are looking for a marriage after your father was born........am I right?

Just checked.......he was registered as Bishop in JFM 1934.

It would have helped if you had mentioned this in your posting.........

So you are looking for any possible 1/2 siblings to your father after he was given up to his grandmother and his mother remarried?

I'll take a look for you

Emma
Do you know the name of your father's grandmother who looked after him?
We need to be sure that we have the correct person?
If we know her full name, hopefully we can check back to find her marriage and then children.

It is possible that Phyllis married again if she was a young widow........

If you think the marriage to HARRISON is likely to be her, it would be useful to find out her age by buying a copy of the certificate.

I don't know if Tiptoe has it's own parish records but now that you think this might be her and you know she was alive in October 1942, you could search the parish registers for more information about her....early death? remarriage?

You could do this in Winchester ( when Record Office reopens) or maybe a main library nearer her parish would have copies.

the gran that looked after him lived in grove rd barton on sea new milton hampshire i presume it was ethel bishop is there any way to search this address?? for around 1945-1950?

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 9 Apr 2008 20:02

Old electoral lists can be searched at main libraries or archives local to the address.

They are arranged with alphabetical listings of streets, so it should be straight forward to check Grove Road.

Some libraries will do this if you contact them, ...others won't.

ok ive done the math this harrison could have been my dads dad but phyllis would not have put him on birth certif as he was only 15 she married him 3 years later when he was 18 does this seem poss as i wouldnt think his parents would have given permission as he was so young and she was much older

Emma
Have you got an actual record saying that your Phyllis was born in 1895?

That would be a big age gap.
Not impossible but just wondering.....

Edward wood need to be 21 to marry without parental permission.

Emma
