Many years ago I spotted a member who might be a match for an uncle of mine.I messaged him but didn't get a reply. I tried again and still no reply.
A couple of years ago I stumbled across a passenger list document which suggested even stronger that this person could be my first cousin. I tried every way I could think of to make contact without success.
So I returned to GR and decided to try again. I searched more names that I had found since I previously tried, his mother, and she was in his tree. So definitely a first cousin so I tried messaging again, still no success.
Then I noticed another member who had my new cousin in his tree so I messages him giving the details that I knew. He RESPONDED but said that I wasn't part of his family. However he was a cousin, on the maternal side, of my new cousin and he passed the details of my message to him.
At last he responded and agreed that we were first cousins and I am absolutely delighted to have found him after all of the effort. We are exchanging information via email and hopefully will meet up some time and I can introduce him to a family he knows nothing about, including a half sister.
