That village has been terribly hit. In some places the water had risen to over head height, and yet for days they saw nobody- no police, or help of any description from the authorities. Volunteer villagers led by 4 people also from the village have tried desperately to evacuate people, close roads, rescue animals, stop homes from flooding, and to try to stop looters. It took desperate pleading on National television from the spokeswoman, before anyone at all turned up.

Jem, that's why in Australia authorities are saying that you have to expect no help for at least 3 days. In this area it is being called Ufor72. the advice is to have sufficient food and water plus torches,,batteries etc. looters are also a problem after bush fires. It must be scary to think that you are on your own in those circumstances Allan! I suppose, if it is a regular occurrence, you are more likely to be prepared for it.
