Hi, can anyone suggest where I can obtain military records from in the UK.
I live in Australia, is there an online website etc.
Cheers Kylie

What is it that you are looking for - and in what sort of time period, as that will very much affect what may be available from where.

Where they served, next of kin, age on enlistment etc between 1880-1930 there abouts. I know one of my ancestors served in 2/5 Lanashire Regiment but I know little information about him unfortunately.

Hello Kylie, if you want to give a name and when/where born then we might be able to find some info to start you off.

Must point out that around 70% of WW1 records were destroyed during WW2 and records post WW1 aren't readily accessible - but we can still give you some pointers.

Different sites have different records available hence greyghost's question. (Speaking of sites - avoid Forces War Records at all costs, the information is unreliable and unproven, also a rip-off).
