Welcome to the boards, Helen

There doesn't seem to be a birth reg 1956 +/- 2 for a Diane or Diana in Hammersmith. Perhaps that's they were living when your father was last in contact?

What can you tell us about her parents? If we can find their marriage we might be able to find Diane's birth using her mother's maiden name. She may have middle initials which your father is unaware of. Their year & place of birth would help. Also, if they have died, when and where.

Her parents probably married in 1956 in Hove

there is a Diane S born to that marriage in 1959 in Hammersmith

Missed it by a year, Detective :-)

Diane has herself in her tree at this site (as does one other person)

You can try sending her a message with this link:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/messages/4736021/discover?rk=160031791

which also shows her married name

the other person is probably her child

I missed the birth of a key person in my tree by a year for a long time (before the transcriptions were finished, and I was having to search the images). It didn't occur to me that she lied about her age by that much when she married!

As both GR Trees are old have PM 2017 ER address in Tividale , West Midlands
with the correct ages and names as Diane and her husband .
